Week 14: Reflecting on Your Workshop Experience
How was your alternate workshop model experience?
This week you’re reflecting on your workshop experience and sharing how you’ll be revising your workshop piece for your creative-critical project.
You’ve Workshopped! What Happened? What Comes Next?
The last two weeks of class have been focused on our alternate workshop model in which you as the writer had agency over your workshop experience.
Your Prompt for Week 14
What was your alternate workshop experience like? What happened? What did you learn? Would you recommend this model to others? Be specific.
In what ways will you be revising/reshaping your piece for your creative-critical project? Why?
After you comment, don’t forget to reply to at least two of your peers during the week. (And don’t forget to format your comment for readability. Use separate paragraphs!)
My alternate workshop experience was a great experience overall. Everyone was super positive and encouraging and everyone helped each other out. It was definitely nerve racking because there aren't a lot of times where you can share your creative writing with your peers and get feedback. Let alone positive feedback that can help you elevate your creative writing even more. I would definitely recommend this model to others because this alternate workshop creates a safe environment for every writer and can see the piece from a different perspective.
I will be revising my piece for my creative critical project by adding in some of the notes from my own workshop. I want to add more specific moments from my dance journey into my critical creative project to really explain more in depth of my experiences. I know I want to add a new section to my piece that I recently wrote and that I’m actually excited to show the class because of my first alternate workshop experience.
For me, I found the alternate workshop to be very beneficial. I very much enjoyed having feedback from the class, and was relieved that a lot of my classmates enjoyed it even if they do not like sports as much. I liked having the whole floor and knowing I had everyone's attention, making for good, attentive feedback. I think in certain areas I am going to become more descriptive, and add a bit more layering to my piece. I think it was pretty solid, but has even more potential. I would recommend this experience to other writing groups.
